I missed two thirds of the start of this programme, but a lady had a electronic device implanted into her chest, what for I don't know. But the next bit was brill, she had RA and whatever the implant was for it cured her of her RA anybody else see this on telly? Think we all could do with a bit of that!!! Over to you.

If you look on You Tube ...Vagus Nerve Stimulations for RA, there is a very good explanation of this given by a surgeon from Stanford University.

Surgical implants stimulating the Vagus Nerve have been used for quite a while for Epilepsy.

Was this a vagus nerve stimulator? It looks like it's been effective in trials and should be a lot cheaper than biologics.

I think it was on BBC 2 in a programme called Trust Me I'm a Doctor . Didn't see it myself. Can't find a reference to it either now. Think it was about vagus nerve stimulation trials. Will have a look again later when I have some time. Sorry I can't be more help.

I wouldn’t try it without medical supervision I were you - if you stimulate the vagus nerve ....& you don’t know what you are doing ..........you get all the symptoms of travel sickness including the vomiting because it causes vestibular disturbance in the ear.

I remember watching the programme. It was a couple of years ago. If I remember a woman in Holland had it done and all her RA symptoms vanished! Sounds good to me!

I believe this is something they are currently trialing but will not be available for several years. Results have been positive though.
