So knee pain started in left leg around 10 weeks ago, swelling was slow but at 6 the swelling kicked in and its twice the size of my right leg. Since last week ive been getting pains in alternate shoulders too. Had blood tests tuesday with raised esr and raised monocytes, got an emergency appointment today to see the consultant. She tried to take some fluid but got barely any out so had more blood tests and maybe get an Mri ? Has this happened to anyone else ?

This happened to my ankle and my hands. I couldn’t get an emergency appointment and I didn’t have a mri scan. The swelling lasted weeks and I still get pain and stiffness waiting to start methotrexate injections. Mine eventually went away on it’s own
Always best to get it checked out, I had a MRI scan on my right knee following swelling and pain which showed up tears, fissures in my tissue, cysts in my knee and a Bakers Cyst in the back of knee, which an X ray only picked up as OA wear and tear in joint. Rheumy tried to drain it saying it was inflammation due to my RD, but it did not go down. Now been told it's mechanical and not my RD. While I couldn't say this would be the same for you it's always best to cover all aspects. It may well go down of its own accord, but if you feel in your situation it isn't or you are concerned get it checked for peace of mind.
