Do you mean - both ankles? or two joints?

I've had a talo-calcaneum fusion and it was very successful and helpful.

But it's a nuisance being off weightbearing for six weeks, then partial weight-bearing for another six. Needs planning and help.

A more specific question might get some answers.

Hi yes that would be great. I’m not sure what my log in is for this as I’ve lost it already but I can see your replies via my email. When did you have them done? I had my right done 12 years ago. Left one is the one that needs doing but will be by a different surgeon.

I’ve had one ankle fused way back in 1985. It’s going well but it did shorten my led a good inch so all my right shoes need raising and they must be completely flat. You do end up with a bit of a strange gait but the pain which was horrific has completely gone and never returned in all this time. I think the procedures they use nowadays are much better. Good luck.

I am having both ankles fused. Had the first one done 3 months ago and am now getting mobile on it. No pain. I'm waiting for 9months or so before I get the other done - I need to fully recover from the first one before I go through that again! (Got DVT and PE which has wiped me out!)

Thanks for that. I went for a review today and he threw me a curveball by saying I could have a part fusion and ankle replacement. Got to make some decisions now!

Great you have no pain. Hope that you get back to being fully mobile soon ready for op 2. Good luck

Hi Deli,Both my ankles are fused (the last one fused was just over a year ago). Now I walk differently which has caused a lot of back pain. Can only wear completely flat shoes and of course can't run,
