Stress & flare up

Good morning, as we are going through a particularly stressful house move, I find this morning that both my hands & wrists, while always being painful are absolute purgatory this morning. Both are “bandaged up” soaked in voltarol gel & I took a naproxen last night. This morning I took a prednisolone. I have @ 2 weeks to go for starting biologics & just hope I can get through it. Any tips or should I just shoot myself 😂

House moving is very stressful. I have a room to clear and shall tackle when I feel good enough.

Do speak with your rheumy, Prednisone helped me a lot. It should help as you await your biologic. Other than that, cold and hot water soaks, now and again compression gloves and don't be superwoman. Find time to breathe and relax. All the best to you. Hessie 😌

Get in touch with your rheumy team and see if they'll give you a steroid shot in the bum - it will help tide you over the stressful house move and hold the fort until the biologics kick in. It tapers out of your system naturally, mine last about 2-3 months. Good luck with the move.

I already asked for this but as I should get the biologics very soon she explained that they need to wait for me to try the biologics first so that my reaction to a steroid shot doesn’t cloud how well the biologics works for me.. I am taking the prednisolone I already have since yesterday in a very low dose 5mg to take the edge off the swelling etc..xx

Yep no shooting please far too messy when moving..... stress equals trigger for hands so try not to over do it with hands or do regular stops so not over doing the hand in one position etc. Ice packs and peas for cooling the hands and TENS machine good too helps mine on punishing days. wine??????

The move will be worth it as long as you remember to relax and not unpack everything in afew days take your time!

Mines a G & T lol! Hands have calmed down a little tonight, had a really lazy day.. everything that could go wrong with this move has gone t.ts up... the chain collapsed 2 weeks ago 3 weeks off the moving date, it’s back on with a buyer with no chain, whoopee we though.. now moving 1st week in Sept.. then “boom” all went wrong again yesterday, & none of it was caused by us.. people are so duplicitous & been living out of boxes for for 6 weeks now.. 🙈🙈🙈

Stress produces cortisol which triggers flares I have been taking melatonin to reduce anxiety and it helps sleep very good natural way to help reduce flares when stressed 😥

I sympathise. I am having an extension built, and you soon realise that anything that can go wrong will. Even making so many decisions stresses me out and I start aching all over. I am lucky I guess in that a couple od Paracetamol do the trick

Just keep looking forward to when the move is done!

I can't begin to think how you feel with a house. My husband has helped me re-arrange our third bedroom where our grandchildren sleep when visiting. I have changed my desk to a smaller one in order to allow them more room age ranges 4 - 9. A cupboard which I wish to clear (hubby's things) and replace with a blanket box for all the grand children's bedding. This has really stressed me, can't imagine your stress Juliachoo, but hope it all turns out well for you and you get settled soon and Take Care. A glass of wine I'm thinking.
