Has anyone on rituximab had either/or IBS symptoms or sinusitus as a side effect of this med.
Rituximab: Has anyone on rituximab had either/or IBS... - NRAS
Rituximab
Sinus infections are listed as a side effect of Rtx......I have had a few since I have been on it, but I have had problems with my sinuses all my life so can't really say the latest are caused by my infusions.
I find I can clear them up without antibiotics.........so I feel the odd sinus problem is a small price to pay for the benefit I gain.
Thankfully no IBS problems.
Thanks Agedcrone - can I ask you how do you manage to clear them up please
I basically inhale, inhale, inhale. I use menthol & eucalyptus...but whatever you like to use will work if you catch it before the mucus gets too bad.
Another trick if it's your maxillary sinuses (on your cheek beside your nose) or your frontal sinuses(above your eyes) is to take an electric tooth brush, wrap it in a tissue ...turn it on & run the back over the area.
It feels really odd but it does loosen the mucus.
Hi there ! Rituximab has not irritated my ibs but i have had sinus problems. I steam as well 3-4 times a day if bad and take 75mg zinc if I think im getting an infection. I use sterimar saline nasal spray twice a day try and prevent problems if possible. I can’t take decongestants as im on beta blockers , but they can also help, as long as you’re not on meds that are contra indicated. Best wishes 🌸
Thanks ladies
I'm like AC in so far as I have always had dodgy sinuses but they have been more troublesome and I had had several chest infecfions, but it's been a trade off as my RA is better than it has been on anything else in so far as stopping new inflammation and my blood results being good. Can you inhale with steam? Like WV, I am a big fan of Sterimar. I use Sterimar Stop & Protect daily as it is natural seasalt, eucalyptus and some copper in it, but a small amount I understand. Sterimar works better for me than anything I have ever tried.
