Hi everyone hope your easter break is going well. If you take mtx via injection can you tell me what is the best time of day to take it. I took my third one this morning and I have been so tired all day. Is it the mtx or just fatique?

Thank you.

Update ...

Thank you all for taking the time to reply, what a great forum this is as I no longer feel alone with this disease. Hope you all have a nice easter break and health blessings to you all.

I took mine at 6pm with my evening meal and lots of water.

I was usually a bit tired throughout the evening and went to bed early. Next morning, for the first few weeks I was a bit tired, but fine by lunchtime.

Like everything else, it's a very individual thing. I take mine after we've had dinner and cleared up so about eight o'clock. I drink loads all through the day and get a reasonably early night. I may wake a bit later next morning and take it a bit easier but that's just me. You might be totally different.

Hi Frankiefocus,

I have just started doing my methotrexate injection before I go to bed 🛏, I must feel a little better the next day and not so tired 😴,

I'd say whatever works best for you. I inject straight after my shower in the morning. It means I don't have to use the antiseptic wipe which I found could sting. I do tend to be more tired but the day after not the same day. If you're thinking doing your injection in the mornings is causing fatigue for the remainder of the day then you could consider doing it just before bedtime. Thing is fatigue may also be due to RD not your MTX, time will tell I suppose but it does seem odd if this has only started since you started injecting, you may be having a quicker reaction to it than me.

Hi I take it in the morning after my shower as I don't use the antiseptic wipe as it stings I have been on it over 1 year now so I really don't notice the fatigue till the next day I do Zumba on the afternoon on the day I take it so maybe i work through it that's maybe why I feel a bit of

fatigue the next day X

I have it early evening then have a fairly early night. Surprising though have had injections now for 6 years but the reaction varies sometimes not so good next day sometimes the day after. Just have to go with the flow! Trial and error I guess. Good luck frankiefocus.

I was told to take it just before I went to sleep, like JUST before. That way you sleep through all or most of the worst of the side effects. I took 1/2 a zofran , took the shot and went right to sleep, did the trick.

Good luck!

I always injected just before I went to bed so I felt sick in the night😉
