You could give the helpline a call they are very helpful and give you good advice, don’t suffer in silence xxx

My theory is if people with RA don't have depression i would disagree with them(my opinion only) with the way this disease goes you will have bouts of depression, but i suggest you see your dr as it sounds like you need help and don't be afraid if your given some antidepressants as they will help you.xxxx

I strongly suspect that depression will happen following a diagnosis of any chronic incurable illness. In my case I reckon I was grieving for the life I was expecting to live but I am adapting to my new reality. I would suggest talking to someone like your GP, the helpline or a councillor. You're not alone

I’ve been through this too. Just know you’re not alone. Diagnosed at 29 which was before I got married and had my child and felt like my life had been taken away from me. I actually sought help from the GP and had some counselling to help me come to terms with my diagnosis, it really helped.

Have to say if it had not been for this group I would not be here today and had no idea where to seek help.

I was so down and almost decided to end my painful life during the early stage of RA. However, I am now back to my normal life already. Therefore you are not the only one has this feeling but you will be okay eventually if you work closely with your rheumy and physiotherapist like me.

Go to my homepage, I had posted a few motivated and inspiring posts about my experiences of recovery. How I came to this stage of life.

You need to go to a psyhiatrist. They can help. I have been fighting for a diagnosis for two years now. The pain makes you depressed. You are NOT alone. RA is dibilitating. Even if you find medication that can help you still will never be the same. But your life is not over it is just different. Please get help. I had to start on an antidepressant and now am much better.

If you are in the uk you can self refer to iapt. Its pretty straightforward to do and the counsellors are very supportive and understanding. I took this route eventually and wished I had done it sooner, although couldnt have done from the deep hole i was in. Its a quicker route than most. Or your rheumy team can refer you for support but that may take longer. Its hard to see a way out , I know, but taking an action to get help even if your heart is not in it is important . You are not alone in how you feel but dig deep , things change with time .

When you feel well enough get out and walk, it is the best treatment for mental health and it will strengthen your muscles too x
