Hi everyone I’ve not posted on here for a while but I do read the posts when I can. I’ve been feeling marvellous for a few months now and more happier with things due to having steroid injections in my left foot which is very badly damaged by RA. Surgeon says next step is 4 bone fusion so trying to put that off as long as poss. The relief it gave me since December has been amazing. But now I’ve developed an ulcer on the same foot! Completely unrelated to the injections I may add but from a stupid tiny blister from my new trainers! I saw Dr yesterday and she said it’s called Pyoderma gangrenosum! specific to RA. Has anyone heard of this? I’m so fed up and worried as it’s right on my bony area and very sore. Dr said it could take months to heal ☹️

Ulcer
I've not heard of pyoderma gangrenosum and truly wish you didn't have it. It's not helpful but I just didn't want you to have no responses. Wishing you better
I've not heard of this specific one, but any kind of ulcer on the foot & lower leg can be problematic. So please take very good care of it, and follow instructions about caring for it to the letter. Chronic ulcers are no fun at all!
I don't know about the name, but I frequently get RA-related ulcers on the ball of the foot. The bones of the feet alter with the disease, besides age, + the tissue is fragile - what they call vulnerable. Was changed to NHS Podiatry as soon as it first occurred. I need to attend often - the team is terrific, I am so grateful. It is difficult, for nothing works all the time; like me you'll have to resign yourself to having to live with a permanent problem overall and take great care of your feet. Good 🍀 and best wishes.
Manuka honey is the best thing for ulcers, better than anything the GP will give you.
