Excited about Prednisone

Never thought I’d ever be excited to start this medication or any for that matter but been in a hiatus for a long time now. Haven’t been able to take anything for pain and inflammation due to liver problems but my Rheumatologist gave me a script for prednisone. Short term (10mg/day for 10 days) because I have dental surgery coming up for wisdom teeth and she doesn’t want me on it very long but thrilled to finally get some relief!!!?

Hope to get my liver sorted out soon and get onto some more long term treatment soon.

Just wanted to share my “good” news ☺️♥️lol

Hope your all doing well

Steroids can be such a relief!! Good luck with the wisdom tooth and tell dentist you are on steroids etc!

Love 'em and hate 'em, Steroids are the business when you are really really struggling. Good luck.

Hi Rheumagal. Your post made me smile as never heard anyone say I am excited about Pred. I am on a high dose of 30 mg tapering to 5 mg for a month.

We are fortunate to have access to these drugs I know. It has a bad rap but got me walking, but the inflammation came back sadly, so take two ✌️ fingers crossed.

Wishing you well in health.

Husband off Methotrexate because of side effects and on low dose Pred (5mg daily) transformed his life...no more Naproxen and he feels 100% better - after 8 years on Methotrexate, still in pain and having it not the RA destroy his quality of life he is finally working again and feeling 'human'.

Glad you are getting some relief now, but be careful ....read on here how hard it is to get off Pred.

After your dental work.......Do have discussion with your rheumatologist about an alternative.

Good Luck with your Wisdom teeth. All four of mine were impacted & I had them all out at once under a GA......with no probs at all.

I hope you can benefit from this relief. Just be cautious with food as steroids can make your blood sugars rise.

Three cheers for Pred! It certainly is the bee's knees in the short term.

I’m like you had zero treatment for my RA for 6 years now on prednisone for another month until new baricitinib kicks in. It’s sad really isn’t it that we are so glad to be given steroids even in the short term. I hope your liver issues are resolved soon so you can start another treatment soon. I bet there’s loads like us out there too. Sending you hugs and better health in the very near future at least you could have 10 days of relief Woohoo 🥳 feeling and understand completely.
