Morning. I’ve just been advised by my consultant that I need to change my biologic as none of the usual ones have worked over the years. Anyone have any experience of this bad boy? It’s apparently been used for only 2 years, which makes me slightly nervous.
Olumiant (Baricitinib): Morning. I’ve just been advised... - NRAS
Olumiant (Baricitinib)
My rheumy wants me on this and this is the cause of all my current problems. I had to have a blood test done befor i went on it and the test showed latent TB which is why i am on antibiotics for three months. It is supposed to be very good.xxx
Been on the lower dose of 2mg for the past 6 months. No wonder drug for me but 4mg would probably have been more effective. That said it has definitely helped my RA, especially when I was taking it with hydroxy, which unfortunately I stopped taking a couple of months back due to stomach issues. Things seem to be gradually going downhill this past couple of weeks, however and I'm not sure if this is because I stopped hydroxy or the baricitinib is starting not to work...hoping it's the former! A big plus for baricitinib, especially in my case, is it leaves the body much quicker than other meds, which is a bonus if you get an infection.
Hope it works for you.
There is one lady in our Gwent NRAS group has been on this since last year and is thrilled to bits at how well she is doing with none of the side effects that she has previously had.
This group of drugs has been on general release for a bit longer in Europe than in the UK, but it is, of course, relatively new.
I have been prescribed 4mg Baricitinib since September 2017 as the biologics caused me many problems, they just didn't work for me. I have found no side effects whilst taking the drug. I have had RA for 30 years and have been on many drugs during that time, however, to date this is the best drug I have been prescribed.
If you decide to take it, I hope it works for you too.
I have had this drug prescribed this year and it has been great. No side effects to date. I feel well for the first time in years.
I too was nervous after taking RA drugs that never seemed to help enough, but I shouldn't have worried.
