Shooting pain?

Hi,

I don’t have a diagnosis yet, but can relate to many of the posts here. One symptom I have that doesn’t seem to fit the standard list for RA is shooting pain in my toes when I walk. Has anyone experienced something similar? Otherwise I seem to fit the RA symptoms but with negative bloodwork.

Yrs I get very sore toes and pain under my feet arches. It's so hard waiting on a diagnosis but persevere as when you get your answer they can get you onto appropriate treatment. And ask to see a podiatrist anyway as even if it's not RA you need help.with that pain.

If you haven't already I would keep a pain diary that is where your pain is and how bad on a scale of 1 to 10 and take photos of red joints, swollen joints for them to see. Good luck.

I get shooting pains almost anywhere at anytime. I do think it’s part of it.

Yes, it's part & parcel of the RD in my feet, sorry you're experiencing it too. It might be an idea if you're struggling to have a confirmed diagnosis to see a Podiatrist, ask your GP if he'll refer you. They're obviously clued up on all things foot related & most are aware of how RD affects the feet.

I hope you find some relief soon, it's annoying that the feet aren't included more than they are by most Rheumy's, it took some nagging & nothing else to report for my Rheumy to take my symptoms seriously even though it was only my feet affected when I was diagnosed.

You could try soaking them in a bowl of Epsom Salts, see if that relieves the pain any.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi, same here. The pain in 3 of my toes sometimes actually feels like I’m walking with broken toes. So painful. I physically hear them crunching. Horrible

I have had very bad pain in all parts of my feet. Heel, arch, toes, sole, top of my foot, you name it. It's part of RA for sure. Sometimes I can't walk. I even get numbness and tingling.

Sometimes I get a shooting pain, like someone has stabbed me with a needle - apparently its nerve pain due to the inflammation - may be similar ????

There are a lot of problems that can develop in the feet -but they won't necessarily be caused by the RA. I have had a lot of trouble with neuromas growing in my feet, but so have friends who have no sign of any autoimmune disease.

In any case I'd talk to your rheumatologist & see if a referral to a podiatrist is called for.

Always mention anything unusual-for you-to your rheumie team ...they have probably heard it all before and will know if you need to be concerned or take any action.

This RA can be one heck of a mystery ride!
