Occupational therapy

Thanks to all of you who replied to my recent post on above. I did keep my appointment for OT turned up at my local hospital (half an hours drive away up the motorway) to be told when I got there at 9am that my appointment had been cancelled! No explanation given. When I got back home an alternative appointment had arrived by post. So have yet to see what is on offer 🤨

That must be so frustrating, but I hope you will still go to the rearranged appointment.

That is disgusting. I had that happen to me once, but went straight to the PALS office at the hospital and told them about it. They said that it was unacceptable and rang the dept up about it. I was then given an appointment just half an hour later. I would recommend going to PALS if that sort of thing happens again.

Thank you for your reply. I was given a phone number to ring if I wanted to make a complaint which was the number for the appointment booking office and which is in a different hospital in another town. Needless to say I didn’t bother.

It sounds like they were just fobbing you off. I hope it doesn't happen to you again, but if it does, ask to see somebody there and then at the PALS office in the hospital. I hope you get on alright when you get your appointment. I found them not to be of much use, but I think it all depends on what region you are in and what funds they have. They offered me a stool to get in and out of the bath which didn't help me at all as I can't sit down once I climb into the bath. I am so fed up with hearing about how good all these different depts etc are when I have never really had any benefit from any I have been to.

I’ll let you know how I get on. I don’t really need their help yet but the nurse at my GP surgery said I should go to make sure I’m on their books as there will probably be a time in the future when I will need them.
