Poor you, that all sounds horrible. You are very lucky to have recovered from your sepsis and got home. It is a dreadful condition. Hopefully the steroids will kick in and you will feel better then talk to your doctors about changing your biological drip if you feel it is making you feel miserable. Maybe you could jot down a note each day about how you feel and what hurts etc and the night before you go for your next appointment look through your notes and list what you want to tell your doctors. I’ve found if I don’t do that I come away from my appointment and haven’t said half of what I should have. Anyway, good luck with it all, it’s horrid weather which won’t be helping you.
I can empathise as I've had sepsis on two occasions. The first was the worst, when like you, I spent about 10 days in hospital. The second time about 6 or 7 days as I recall. Scary times indeed!! The doctors told me that it can take many months for the body to recover, which proved to be the case with me, at least with the first time when it hit me for six! I think your flares may be so bad because your body is weakened by the sepsis. Hopefully things will start to improve before too long.
