Keeping fit

Hi all,

Haven't posted on here for at least 12 months. I was diagnosed with RA nearly 2 years ago and have been on methotrexate and hydroxy for the whole of that period.

My health has generally been very good and I am still running 4-5 miles a day as part of my commute to Oxford!

I have had a few flare ups over the past month or so, think it's down to tiredness and a few too many late nights.

Does anyone else find that their symptoms get worse if they don't get enough rest, specifically sleep?

Hope everyone is well!

Too little sleep and/or too much stress is bad for everybody but especially those of us with RD it seems. Sometimes, though, it may be a price worth paying. Life is for living!

Hello, Yes! Definitely! Sleep is medicine. RA seems to cause havoc with our energy. Sleep helps. I don't sleep well and always feel worse when tired. Well done with the running each day - Fabulous! X

Well done Hoffster keep up the good work 👍

Oh yes indeed! I have had chronic sleep issues for ages. I feel just awful when I don't sleep. A lack of sleep seems to ramp up pain, and certainly causes mood issues.

I take a strong antihistimine now to help me sleep. I didn't really want to be putting another chemical in my system, but I was going barmy from a lack of sleep.

Hope things improve soon for you.

I find resting my joints as soon as I get home by laying down with my legs elevated helps me, sleep is another issue!

Brilliant on the 4-5 miles running, I used to run a good bit but since this Polymyalgia/Pakindromic (still has to be properly diagnosed) have been unable to run as much

Well done you
