Methotrexate causing severe vomiting!

I'm at home, 2nd time taking this RA med. So sick, vomiting for 3 hours! Wish I hAD zofran. Do u think Dramamine would work?

First time I took it, I didn't vomit at all! This is horrible!!

Its actually 1 mg folic acid, I just looked!!

I tried it, worked for a min..but headache, vomiting, has kept me up all night

Sorry to hear this, that's rotten, more so as you were ok with your first dose.

I'm hesitant to say yes or no because we're not medically qualified but appreciate you'll be feeling washed out. If you can't get an appointment with your GP or get to speak to your Rheumy team then if it was me if you have one I'd take an antiemetic, try to quell the sickness if you still have it.

I wonder, are you in the UK? I ask because you say you have 1mg folic acid. Here in the UK we're usually prescribed 5mg. I'm on MTX & take 5mg every day except the day inject. If you're not it might be worth asking if your FA dose could be increased.

Keep well hydrated, not only with you having you been sick, it also helps flush the MTX out of your system.

If you take your dose in one go it might help ease sickness if you spread your dose throughout the day with breakfast, lunch & evening evening meal. That way it's not such a hit on your body.

I haven't slept at all, been running back in fourth to bathroom..its finally 4am, I didn't want to keep waking my husband up, so I just stayed up, turned the coffee on. I'm sure I'll be taking a nice nap later my neck hurts so bad from bending over toilet.... Oh my!!

I’d definitely on the phone to the dr for folic acid. So sorry this happened to you.

Thank you...I took kids to school, so hopefully I can get some sleep in, so much for cleaning or doing anything else today. My body is so sore

There is the thought that coffee helps ease side effects of MTX. Can't say the same for me, I had a stomach bug on Sunday night/all day Monday & the smell of coffee turns me never mind drink it! Love my morning coffees when I'm well though. It's a bit gross but I can't kneel over the toilet bowl anymore so I sit on the toilet & sick into a bucket then flush it down down the loo!

I hope you'll be able to get some rest before the children come home. I take it someone is collecting them for you?

I slept from 9-12:30. I just can't sleep good anymore! But I have to pick them up at 2:15. My sons 19! My step kiddos are 13 & 12. So they help me a lot hot bath sounds amazing, if only I had help getting out lol

I had the same problem in the end with methotrexate. I was put on sulfasalazine after, not much better. I’m seeing RA in jan and trying something else than DMARDS. Not sure on what they are going to try yet.
