I am also not one of those your thinking of but I grew up on a non sugar diet and hate the stuff - for me white sugar is especially poisonous. When I eat sugary stuff I regret it. The general advice is to avoid sugar where possible, does not matter if RA or not.

Hi, I have given up sugar and have felt so much better the past 2 years. I get my sugar from fruits, and my raw veggie juice which contains carrot, beet, pumpkin, sweet potato. I use pumpkin, sweet potato in smaller quantities along with carrots.

Recounting details of my illness mainly because it might take time to go through all the previous posts.

I am hypersensitive to any drug, so I don't take any meds for RA. Especially because I have another issue, ITP, because of which my Platelet count decreases.

My inflammation markers have been almost normal the past 2 years, because of my anti Inflammatory diet.

I am at present Anti

Gluten, Sugar, Milk,

I do take vitamins B12, C, D3, whenever my level goes down.

Of course, Calcium, magnesium, zinc, not separately but as one tablet.

Hope it helps.

I recently gave up processed sugars and, whilst it hasn't improved my RA, I feel a lot better in myself with less bloating and fewer headaches. I have also started to have kefir products which have helped too.

I'm celioc so gf but took up chocolate and frankly its nice. Life has to have some pleasure and I love fudge too. The small treat every now and again surely is ok, as life is not all about the RA its about enjoying ourselves and as wine is banned along with a long list of nice things including grapes, bananas, oranges, onions thus no curry ! and worst of all my family are toturing me at the moment by finishing a take away Indian meal. All of them ! xxxx I shall remember this totally unfunnny selfish action as rice ain't nice on its own. lol xxx

Oh, yes, I forgot chocolate. Do treat myself to dark chocolate now and then. I used to hog chocolates, gorge on icecream, almost every alternate day. But now, maybe once or twice a year.

I gave up sugar for a year. I also cook from scratch and generally avoid pre-made foods. But the biggest difference for me was giving up gluten and grains. I now enjoy my chocolates again 😋and notice no real difference but bread or grains is terrible for my inflammation. Occasional chocolate indulgence is about all. I still avoid sugar as much as possible because it really isn’t good for me anyways.

Hi - I get my sugar fix from natural sugars, I eat dried fruits too! Today I bought dried cranberries without the sunflower oil 😊

Veronica I have been off most refined sugars and I believe it is one of the major factors in me being in remission since April.

Anything with processed sugar in it i avoid...not easy at first but my arthritic pain was so bad with one flare up after another. I was desperate. A friend advised listening to some of Clint Paddisons online videos. I never purchased but he stated he cured his arthritis with diet. He went hard core into it where I deleted milk and milk products and sugar. I havent had a flare up since ive started but must state i have also added CBD oil..
