Stopped Methotrexate

Hi hope your all as well as can be. I've been on 20mg of methotrexate now for just over a year. I've had to stop as I've getting breathlessness and a cough. Question is how long does it take to get out of your system? It's just over a week now since I last injected. Initially felt not too bad but slowly getting more pain in joints and stiffer. I've been taking zap in, ibuprofen and amitryptaline. Amitryptaline is for unrelated problem. Any advice and how to cope as I can't have any steroids till I've had my ultrasound scan and other tests. So sorry for you, that must be really alarming. It took me about 6 weeks to flare after stopping MTX but we’re all different. I would get breathlessness checked out with GP too, just in case. Sounds like you’ve already rung advice line. I had 3 month ‘flu’ & extreme breathlessness before I went down with this (now think it was RD itself before joints played up); it’s worrying I know: got strong antibiotics and it slowly cleared after about 3 months in MTX (this is different to yours) Rheumatology did not seem concerned about it. Hope you get some respite soon x

Thank you for your reply. Yes it is quite shocking when your told you need scans for your heart, lungs and he also wants a liver function test. Also ultra sound to check synovis in joints. Looking on here has helped greatly and having your questions answered is invaluable. Thank you and keep well x
