Corns: Thought they were what you got from wearing too... - NRAS
Corns
I have 3 or 4 on the fleshy pads of the soles just below my toes. According to podiatry I have typical RA feet. Apparently the corns are there because my deformed toes have shifted the pressure points to where they shouldn't be, or something like that. They also reckon that a couple of nodules I have there also contribute to corns forming....and yes they do hurt a little when I walk. I have them shaved by podiatry every 8 weeks or so.
Been lucky the chiropist has been great and sorted out splints for my shoes too.
I do, though they're mainly on the balls of my feet. I've lost the fatty pads (fat pad atrophy) so my weight is partially borne on bone & skin hence the corns, also not helped (in a similar way to wishbone) by my toes not being aligned as they should be (daylight sign & hammer toe). Like you I also have a wonderful Chiropodist (Podietrist in my case, same thing), I have regular appointments to de-seed the corns & fully check my feet & she now gives me a quick mini pedicure too, just cutting & filing the nails but it's safer than me doing it!
I used to have corns both on on the outer side of my little toe & between my little toe & the next toe but no longer because I now wear properly fitting shoes. My Podietrist suggests they were caused by shoes being too narrow for my foot, possibly high heels pushing my foot further forward than they would naturally be & them being higher than I wear nowadays.
Pleased to hear you have very good feet though, apart from the corns.
