P.M.A: That’s what the nurse said to me today positive... - NRAS
P.M.A
I hope coming off steroids goes better than you expect. Very trying times for you. Happy meloning
Very wise nurse..if you expect the worst that is often what you will get.look forward to the best & it just might happen!
Hope you have a bearable experience coming off the steroids.
Enjoy your water melon!
I think people with Rheumatoid Disease do have a very healthy attitude to their disease and mostly just 'get on with life' despite great difficulties, pain, stiffness and fatigue.
But sometimes it does feel, when we DO complain, that we are regarded a whinging and somehow should not expect relief from the difficulties, pain, stiffness or fatigue. Or are somehow not believed...or is that just me feeling an imposter at appointments with the medical team?
Nope...I feel like that sometimes too. What's more, and call me crabby, if a nurse said that to me she'd be likely to get the sticky end of my character!
Don't fib Nettie...you'd probably invite her to go wild camping with you, then tip her out of her hammock!
she'd deserve it!
Aw no.....poor woman was only trying to help!
Well...after I tipped her out I'd smile and say 'positive mental attitude' and make her toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate to show no hard feelings. I'm good like that
I'm only being poopie because I remember a nurse saying something similar to me when I was experiencing awful sulfasalazine side effects. I was in absolute agony at the time.
Must say I'm pretty good after the event....but when every sinew is raging I try to keep to myself! As most of my side effects have entailed head down loo..... That has been relatively easy!
As a bystander to RA I have the greatest respect for everyone on here. Bags of courage/humour/determination.... A PMA is great, yet everyone here understands when sometimes its difficult to rustle it up.
I’m with you - If you can’t tell yout nurse how you are feeling without being told you are moaning where the .... can you go!
No .i agree.we all feel like that.
Its the silent disease syndrome.
Keep smiling .
Hugs to you all xx
second that, I get knocked down with it all but still come back up
ps I just thought I am like a weed that wont be killed off no matter what gets chucked at them :O)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I'm on a steroid reduction programme at the moment, it hasn't been too bad. I'm more fatigued than usual starting around 48 hrs after reducing the dose, which lasts for a day or two, then I'm fine again until the next drop. I've managed to get down from 20mgs to 4 mgs a day. Taking it really slowly now dropping 1 mg per month.
Without P.M.A most of us wouldn't make it through the roughest times and wouldn't get on with our lives. Good on you for taking it on board. All the best.
Bother PMA. It's SBM that gets me through the day. Sheer Bl**dy Mindedness and an attitude a mule would envy. As for the nurse, just pass her an egg and she can teach me how to suck it. Grrrr
All good and well for nurse to say but when pain kicks in and it will it's not as easy to stay positive.
I’m so with Gnarli, I want to tear nursing staff a new one when I’m in agony and they come out with that crap !, I realise it’s difficult to imagine how bad it can get for those of us with RA the best one I heard was ‘it seems everyone is having a moan today’ oh dear it’s going to be one of those days. To which I replied well let’s hope you never have to enjoy one of my bad days lol. X
