Started my new biologic yesterday Tofacitinib by Xeljanz 5mg. I had been off meds for almost 6 weeks, was going through a testing flare on Monday which jumped from right shoulder to neck to left shoulder blade, albeit it has eased. I commenced my first tablet yesterday at 11a.m. This morning I awoke feeling awful my joints in my hand, and middle index finger swollen, my feet tender and sore too, my ears ringing.
I am now reluctant to take another pill today ! (Suppose to be out at an event that I cannot miss this evening).
Has anyone taken their medication and felt worse than when the had not taken it? If so did you continue to consume?
I have just called my Rheumy let’s see what he has to say. Happy days 😬 - trying to smile through the soreness and stiffness.

Your rheumy should be able to give you an answer but it is possible that the symptoms you're getting are just unlucky coincidence perhaps? I truly hope you get better soon

I don’t know Hessie but had major flare when off meds for over a month before biologics so could be that? Also noticed more pain on day after injecting both MTX and benepali which later subsides. Hope rheumatology has some answers & you feel better soon x
Thank you for the feedback - I was told to continue, I shall take before bed and hopefully can sleep through. Appreciate you comments. Wishing you well x
Thanks Allanah - I have an event I must go to and my daughter’s birthday so no resting for me 😊 I shall persevere and see how it goes. Hope you are doing well. x
