Don’t think MTX is working.

My jaw, shoulder, arms, fingers, knees & feet are hurting along with my eyes & throat being sore. I’m on my 12th week of MTX . Came off Pred 1.5 weeks ago.

What do you guys think my next steps to be? I don’t see the rheumatologist till November but I can ring the nurse.

Perhaps you should go back to low dose pred for a while. Mtx+ low dose pred in early RA has shown to be effective both in arresting RA progression and erosion, more effective than Mtx alone.. You could ask more about this when talking to your doc. Hope you will get relief soon. Simba

I’m hesitant to go back on Pred due to Sugar levels but I know it gave me the best relief... thanks for responding Simba!

What dose were you on?

Initially on 20mg , got steroid induced diabetes and I just tapered down. These last few days has been tough as I feel like I’m getting worse not better.

The new studies recommend starting with 10mg+10mg mtx. 20mg is not a low dose and does have more side effects. How were you on 10mg? You can also minimize side effects of pred by alternate day dosing. You could take up this with your rheumy (?) Good luck, hope to hear what your doc says!

Don't really understand(?) Do you think mtx gave you the pain? Are you on any meds now?
