I've been on leflunomide and due to it not working very well they added in methotrexate. It worked amazingly and my esr went from 70 down to 25! I felt on top of the world for a few months, I was in remission! Suddenly my esr jumped back up to 60 and I started feeling awful again pain stiffness inflammation. My nurse said I was in a flare and it will go but it hasn't. I've been really stressed around the start of the flare with relationship issues and I've changed my job. My stress isn't going to ease anytime soon. And I just don't know if this flare will ever end. I don't know what to do. Thanks for reading.

First thing is to get your mind in a better place, is there anything you do or know that gives you a lift in how you feel? I am asking this as I have noticed this with myself, if I am feeling down and can't see the rainbow it seems to make me feel worse.
The other day I was in horrendous pain, the weather was beautiful then and I was feeling so low thinking things were never going to get better, this was now me forever.
Then I took the bull by the horns, and thought right I am in pain I might as well do something with my two little miniature horses pain or no pain.
so I struggled but did some fun things with them and it really lifted me, my mood and helped me feel a bit better, I was still very sore but I felt better in myself then the days afterwards it seemed to wear off a bit and more the next day and so on, its back now and I need to give myself this talk .:O))))))
but what I am trying to say, is its hard to see the silver lining when your feeling stressed and down.
it will pass and you will feel better than you do now but you need a lift of some kind to get you out of this situation
Contact your rheumy and ask for a depo steroid injection. It should help until things settle down. Don't kid yourself that you have to live with this pain.
I agree with Maggsie. Ask your rheumatology nurse for a depo injection. Don't put up with the pain if you don't have to as it will make you feel more stressed out. People do say that stress can contribute to prolonging a flare and in some cases, cause it. Hope you feel better soon.
