Chest X-ray

Me again, while I think on things can anyone tell me why I needed a chest X-ray? I also had my knees xrayed and bloods taken.

I had to have chest xrays the consultant said it was to check all was ok before he prescribed Methotraxte some of the drugs

Yes, both the disease and the drugs can affect your lungs so need to be sure all ok before you start the drugs. And for the knees it could be a baseline to be able to assess if things are progressing in a good or bad way in the future.

Baseline imaging I would imagine. As helix says both the disease & some meds, methotrexate in particular, can affect the lungs so it's not unusual to have both those & certain joints, hands & feet plus knees if they're seen to be affected at diagnosis X-rayed at diagnosis.

Thanks, I normally take my daughter to appointments as I tend to switch off especially when I get given unexpected diagnoses. Unfortunately she couldn’t get time off so I went myself hence me not thinking to ask questions
