Are there people out there whose seropositive RA is under control on methotrexate only? I was put on hydroxychloroquine and methotrexate at diagnosis in Feb 2016 but have just had to stop the hydroxychloroquine due to eye problems. (Posted about this about a month back).
I see the rheumatologist in mid-Sept and wonder if I will be offered something to replace the hydroxychloroquine. I have already reduced my methotrexate from 20g to 12.5g due to side effects.
Do people find methotrexate alone works? I have not noticed any deterioration in my condition yet but it is of course early days.

I have seropositive RA and am currently only taking methotrexate injections but I’m not at all very well controlled so I have a box of hydroxychloroquine in the cupboard which I haven’t started yet. I had to stop it many months ago but I can’t remember why (!) so I’ve been told to start it again. I’m avoiding it but I will have to do it🙄
I'm just on mtx and hydx but I have steroids low dose as well but I still have a lot of fatigue pain and a bit of swelling I've tried bio but they didn't work was worse !!!
I am seropositive and am currently on just methotrexate. I was diagnosed in November and started oral mtx then. So far so good...as of February when i had my last appt i am in remission! I did have a flare in my shoulder last month that lasted about a week but besides that I’ve been pain free since about early January.
Yes, I am sero positive and controlled at last with injections of methotrexate.
I started with sulfasalazine, was good but my liver wasn’t happy. Plaquenil for a couple of years and with an increase developed a severe rash. However on tablets for a number of years I was never really controlled, now on injections all good and “touch wood” finally inflammatory markers are normal. So yes my rheumatologist has left me just on the methotrexate.
