Disappearing replies

Is anyone else fed up taking time writing a long considered post.......only to have it disappear into the ether.

I think this site is getting too clever by half for non techies like me!

Hello,

This has happened a couple of times to me in the past, especially when using my phone. I was very annoyed and I just didn’t bother posting any comments etc in the end.

That is what I have decided. I'm using an iPad, & every time I open HU it's a different screen

It’s been very frustrating! 😫 I wrote two posts only for it to disappear and wondering if it had in fact posted. Also, it kept loosing the community, constantly had to search to add again and again. Lastly, some posts I could not open to reply. Thought it was my phone at first. I think it has improved somewhat thankfully. Have a good day. 😊

I'm only bothering today as I'm not feeling too brilliant & the tennis at Wimbledon is not up to its usual standard....so I'm filling in time!

Very annoying. I’m on an iPad and each time I want to read someone’s full post another irrelevant screen comes up. Also posts disappear.

Hi Downtime .....I sent an email to the tech dept describing what is happening & now it seems I can reply to you not to myself....but the reply I sent to my self has not appeared.

It's happened to me a couple of times and always when I'm nearing the end of a lengthy post. Being the slooooooow one finger typist that I am, to say it's bl***y annoying is putting it mildly...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

When you are due a a new "thingy"(PC/laptop/tablet) ...make sure you get one that has the little microphone icon.

I just "talk at" my tablet & the words appear on the screen!

It's a miracle ...except my tablet substitutes rude words for my innocent ramblings......so read carefully before pressing " Send" when you get one...or you'll get banned!

Drat, too late! I've just had a new laptop as a birthday present. If I'd known about this then I'd definitely have dropped the hint to my wife before she bought it. Don't like the idea of not being able to swear though!

In the lost email I said if you have a new laptop it may have the dictaphone facility.

Look at the bottom of the screen for an old fashioned microphone icon,click on it, speak & it appears on the screen, or check in settings.

Or easier still.....ask at the shop your wife bought the Laptop!

Don't worry about not swearing.....my iPad does it for me!

I thought you were joking about losing your email. That seems to happen a lot with you.

Can't see any microphone icon and nil in settings. Do you have Windows 10 on your iPad? I might be wrong, but I'm using a Chromebook which is not equipped with Microsoft Windows so is more limited in what it can do.

No not Windows...my iPad is Apple...I bought it around the time Windows8 came out & thought it was such a Dog's breakfast I broke the bank & bought an iPad. Best purchase ever!

I think you can get a dictaphone application on Windows...but have no idea how you get it.

Buy your wife an iPad for her birthday...I'm sure she'll let you use it!

Sorry if I haven't explained things properly, I seem to have a habit of doing that. I have a Google Chromebook so no Windows. I've had a quick search but don't think Google do a dictaphone for the Chromebook.

Mmm, not sure about buying an iPad for my wife's birthday...I think she'll be happy enough with a nice bunch of flowers.

Apparently if you go to OK Google search feature....there is a voice recognition engine built inside which you can stretch into speech text.

It's (apparently) an App called Voicd Note 11

I don't understand ..... but my techie friend said that is so!

Hope it works for.....you can then be thought raving mad - like me...sitting at your laptop talking to yourself!

I've somehow managed to get it up and running...I never cease to amaze myself on times! Trouble is I think I need some elocution lessons as it seems to be having trouble understanding my welsh accent!.....just kidding! Seriously though, I'm not very PC savvy hence don't have a clue how to use it to post on this, or any other forum. Think it'll be pretty good once I get the hang of it, but I need to spend some time reading up on the instructions, or better still perhaps...get my grown up children to show me.

I think a 7 year old is what you need...they seem to understand things we can't even spell!

I know what you mean about accents..try an American drawl...it reacts well to that!

Happens to me too, usually from my phone.

I wrote a post about how my hayfever has improved since being diagnosed with RD, asking if anyone else has experienced this, it didn't post. Shortly afterwards someone else posted asking if others had experienced their hayfever becoming worse, so I didn't bother rewriting mine.

I live in Australia and downloaded the app on my iPad but it is fraught with issues and I can’t see what i’m Typing so I deleted it. I very much like the Health Unlocked just don’t like the app. Not for me anyway.

I agree...I think when the app first appeared a lot of people tried it......& very quickly deleted it....me included!

I just wait for the daily updates & read/answer them.

If a daily email doesn't arrive, I wait until it does!

Hope it's not too cold Down Under......we have a heatwave ...yes really...hot in UK......actually very hot.....33c forecast in London today!

Today is cold, I am in Tasmania, so we are having daily fronts coming through, however it is the winter and I have a wood heater and am very snug.

Today, it logged me in under an old log in and all my old posts are gone or not findable. Oh, well. Health Unlocked very helpful. Wish it was easier to work with. Maybe it is the phone. But not on my computer as much as on my phone. So I guess I’ll continue with the problems.

I use an iPad & on the whole find it is very accurate ....everywhere except on this site,

How can:-

1. A reply disappear?

2. I reply to 'x' & it replies to me?

3. I reply now & get a reply from 3 year ago

4. I look up a post from 10 minutes ago & it's gone.

Now you see why I give up.

I do admire people who work on their phone all the time. It takes me 10 minutes to write Dear Sir on my phone.....it's all SO SMALL!

I keep having to re sign in again but this only happens after Ive written my response which swiftly disappears into the big blue yonder. It's frustrating when you have taken time and thought to reply.

Just say " I'm losing emails too". .......the techies are looking into it & hopefully the more of us who let them know there is a problem the faster it will get fixed.

It has hapoened to me in the past so now if I think I'm going to write a lengthy ( considered) response, I will open up a notepad type app, write it in there, then copy and paste it into the response box after logging in again.

I think it's a time out issue on the logins
