Hey fever and Methotrexate

I’ve been on Methotrexate for a few weeks now, and all of a sudden I have developed a real bad case of hey fever, runny eyes, and streaming nose. Haven’t had it this bad for so long, has anyone else had this is it normal, or I’m wondering could be an allergic reaction.? Would have thought that would come on straight away if the later.

Hi can relate to that as with RA I think it's quite common , I just take an anti hystimine every day with my tablets but it. can be a real pain in the butt, I'm on Methetrexate injections 20mgs sulfazalasine 500mgs and Benepali 50mgs but am in the process off changing to Humira

I’m only in Methotrexate for my RA as I’m diabetic and the others inter react with the insulin. I take an antihistamine but it’s not working, going to see doc later here’s hoping he can suggest something stronger, as my eyes are so sore. I have enough trouble with them through my diabetes don’t need anything else.

I also have dry eyes and went last week for my 2 yearly check and my right eye has deteriorated quite badly so have to go back in 6 months for another check up and also have cataracts, she says it's down to the Ra and meds

I’ve just found out it’s an allergic reaction. I had to use my epi pen as Dr said I was going into anaphylax. Taking the two antihistamines helped it from going into full blast shock. Not sure what the hospital dr will put me on now as I can’t take anymore tablets. I was ok on the lower dose, but the build up in my system couldn’t cope. Wonder what pain the RA will take me to now, without meds!

I know what you mean sick off taking meds and 2 ra jags as they weren't doing anything and I was going to come off them all until rheumatologist decided to change me onto Humira but until I start on new drug I'm still not controlled

Consultant said to try it one more time , if it causes the same reaction she will change me onto something else. GP wants me to go to surgery on Monday morning and take the tablets so as I can be in a controlled environment if I need help, the nurse will be with me. Let’s hope it is ok and was a one off. I was given Cetirizine 10 mg allergy tablets to take one a day for Duration while on mtx took it yesterday and today, nose and eyes so far are ok! Tingling but not running🤞

Had blood test done, all ok with mtx, turned out I had an infection not an allergic reaction as thought. So on with the mtx, and all was well today taking it. Thankfully, Infection cleared, they think it was caused by a bit of bone broken off of the tip of my big toe,

Hi, I too suffered from a chronic drippy nose and watery eyes on mtx. Wasn't sure that was the culprit until I went off 6 weeks ago. I tried claritan and nasal washes with little success.
