Cosentyx and BG levels

I had about 7 good years on Simponi then it started 'wearing off'. My rheumie has started me on a relatively new biologic called Cosentyx. (She said she's had quite a bit of success with it.)

I have also been diet-controlled border-line diabetic for over 10 years. (i.e. no meds).

At the same time as I've been starting on Cosentyx, I've had a heavy chest cold (2 weeks so far) that is now getting better.

My question is this....I do test my blood glucose levels intermittently with a home test unit, and just this week, my BG levels have soared (around 10 mmol/L when usually 5 to 7 over the day). I would put this down to the illness, but also wondered if anyone else using Cosentyx has had this experience. I haven't been able to find any information from the company leaflets.

I can't see any reports of a link between the two but you need to let your health care team know. And if it does seem connected (if there isn't another cause and stops when you stop the medication), it needs reporting. There is a 'yellow card' website to report drug problems.

Thanks for that, oldtimer. I've got a great GP, so will follow up with him.
