Back on methotrexate

Hi there again im back on methotrexate after stopping last April after falling quite ill with a cough and flu like symptoms im on week two 7.5mg I took tablets monday and started to feel nauseous, headache and totally exhausted yesterday afternoon woke this morning feeing the same is this normal and please please tell me it gets better because its this or my condition will just get worse my rheumatologist said I ready dont have knee caps also im going on holiday to Mexico in 10 days I hope ill be alright

Hiya, I'm also back on Methotrexate but only on 5mg ! This is to add to other DMARDS. My first week back on it I felt really nauseous. I was expecting to feel like that again this week after the second dose, but no, it didn't happen. What a relief ! Hope that gives you some confidence and optimism. Enjoy your holiday. Good sun block cream, long sleeves and good eye protection is my advice. Also to make sure your insurance company have your medical details.

I felt pretty grim when I first started MTX, heaviness and nauseous being the worst symptoms. However, they subsided pretty quickly and the nausea is much improved if I keep myself well hydrated and load up on fluids the day of taking MTX and eat lots of carbs the day after.

I'm still increasing my dosage and can feel a bit rough the day after MTX, but nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

I'm beginning to see improvement in my condition, so hang in there.
