Title says all. I woke up this morning, obviously a result from “sleeping funny”, and experienced a sharp pain in my neck. It’s gotten worse as the day has gone on, to the point that I can’t even slightly tilt my head to the left, or turn and look to the left. The pain is very intense when I try to exceed that range of comfortable motion. Does anyone know what could have caused this, and what I can do to ease my discomfort? Thanks! x

Oh but that sounds nasty. Have you tried painkillers plus a warm wheat bag on the affected area? Hugs

Does the pain extend across your shoulder or down your arm? If So, it is likely a trapped nerve. Manioualtion can be very bad for this though so anti-inflammatories are safer.
Oh that's a shame, I have had similar to this before but mine went away after a day or so.
It could just have been the way you have been sleeping.
Painkillers and hot towel or something like that should help but if the pain continues I would phone the doctor for advice.
Hope it goes away.

Hi Nanda, have you tried Piroxicam gel on it? That would settle localised inflammation if any, and reduce pain. Might need GP advice, and prescription.
You could have either a pinched nerve or a thing called tablet neck. Basically your neck would’ve been in a bad position for a long time and the muscles start to think that’s how they need to hold your neck so when you try to correct it it hurts. But I could easily be wrong. Maybe try a massage and if that doesn’t work go to the doctor for sure
