Hi, our surgery’s nurse is working only in the mornings, when I am busy and I need someone to take my blood for tests. Do you know any pharmacy to do this outside working hours

Blood tests
You can book anytime at small local hospital near me and GPs should have number if you ve got same. I was given list from rheumatology of places for blood tests so maybe your advice line could help? Good luck
Hi. Hospitals are often the best round here anyway, as you can go between 7.30-4pm whereas the clinics won't see anyone before 9.30 unless they need fasting bloods, and they finish at 1.30pm. Useless for anyone who works. Hope you get it sorted.
Around here the hospitals will only do hospital requests any others the GP's have a list of places to go so ask your GP where does all day tests.
Hi
Do u not have a list of places you can get it done. I can get mine at two different hospitals and Asda.
Hope you find somewhere.
🙂
I also depends a bit on which tests you are having done. Some tests are done on fasting blood. Some tests need to be at the lab within a certain time and can't be kept overnight (which might happen if the blood is taken late in the day). So check if there are any limitations.
But usually the hospital phlebotomy clinic is open for longer hours than the local GP surgery phlebotomy clinic where they want to finish by a certain time to get the blood on the hospital transport to the lab.
Thanks
Ask your GP practice which local hospital has a phlebotomy department that opens in the afternoon. My Local hospital now has on line booking & my blood tests are booked at a time of my choice right into July.
The online booking has speeded up tests & as they open at 0830 maybe you could go in then?
I have given up on our GP surgery. I've tried and there is quite often a week's wait which is a pity as it's literally just across the road. Our local hospital phlebotomy dept is a walk in and wait and open 8-4.30.

My local hospital will only take blood between 0800 and 1200 Noon, there is always a queue.
I usually go to Asda, could you get it done in your lunch break if there's one near you and its not too late. Mine can't be kept overnight.
I have mine done at Sainsburys. My GP asked if I would like it done there as it is more convenient. I get the forms from the doctors.
