Tapering steroids

Hi guys was on prednisone for two years tapering off over a 3 months period but had to go back on for 2 weeks due to flare. My weight shot up again but swelling is reducing so ready to dump them. Can I just stop or do I need to taper again? Thoughts? Cheers M x

Steroids must always be tapered Marie- it’s dangerous not to. I’m speaking as an ex nurse of 30 years and also someone who has been in your position. I was on steroids for two years for reactive arthritis. I too had flares whilst I tapered . You feel like you are back to square one and just want to get off them. Be patient. I’ve been off them for a couple of years . Im still trying to shift weight but my joints are completely back to normal
