Wondering if I have RA or could it be something else. I got referred to a Rheumatologist because I've been having pain and stiffness. My GA did blood work and my rf factor came back at 58, vitamin D was extremely low. Personal history, my grandmother had Lupus and my first cousin was diagnosed with RA as an adolescent. I am so anxious to find out what is going on

It looks as if you need some more investigations before a diagnosis could be made, but it is good that your GP is open to the idea.

hi Meroge,

difficult in the early stages sometimes to give a diagnosis. Fairly often the blood tests aren't very helpful, that's why the diagnosis has to be given by a rheumatology consultant. They will look at many other things including your symptoms and other test results such as x-rays, mri scans (if you have them done). You can read more about diagnosis on our website:

Thank you. I see the Rheumatolgist next week. I am ready to find out why I'm in pain and whats causing it

I hope they manage to give you a diagnosis and then start you on suitable treatment whatever the outcome is
