Has anyone experienced heart problems related to RA or the medication? For the past two weeks, I've had a very fluttery heart and am totally exhausted. Am more stressed than usual because we are moving, but just wondering if any of you have RA related cardiac issues.

I haven't had this with the meds i am on now, but when i was given HRT i got the same affect, so i was taken of them and put on HR patches, so i don't know if it could be to do any new meds you are taking, it is great you have the rheumy tomorrow, so that they can give you some answers, let me know how you get on, Take Care xx

I got like that when I was very, very stressed. But you really should go and see a doctor.

I get that to. I did mention it to the rheumy he just wrote it down but didn't say any more about it. I get it worse when I'm in a flare so took it that it's linked to RA rather than the meds. I find it a bit unnerving,I sometimes get a sharp pain as well, it doesn't last very long. Be interesting to hear what your dr says x

I mentioned palpitations on my visit to rheumy and he had my chest x rayed. On my follow up appt. it seems I have a heart that is large (upper range of normal) he said thats ok in itself but mtx can affect the heart and if I get breathless with the palpitations to let them know immediately. good luck at your appt. x

Had some really strange symptoms with a fast heart, tingly fingers and spinning head when I took Tramadol prescribed for RA pain- maybe it's to do with your medication? Would be a good plan to speak to medics about it I think! x

Best get blood checked for under active thyroid or B12 levels, i had that too and seems to have settled since on both levothyroxine and B12 injections. x

I was diagnosed with RA in Aug 2010 and since that time I have suffered with palpitations. They tend to come in waves, sometimes on a daily basis, waking me up in the mornings and this goes on for some weeks and then it miraculously stops. When I first got them I was really worried and anxious. I do think they come on when stressed or when having a flare up? As I've had them for so long now. I just accept that it's a fact of life. I was investigated with a heart monitor a couple of years ago, but nothing untoward was discovered. Sometimes they're terrible. Sometimes not so bad. I am on Methotrexate Injections, Hydroxychloroquine, Prednisolone, Rituximab Infusions, B12 Injections, Vit D. tabs. Levothyroxine 150 mgs and some other stuff. So I just take it in my stride. Not nice, but none of the other stuff is either. I would mention to your Rheumy or your GP though. Everyone is very different so you would need to look into it. Good Luck :-)

Definitely tell your GP and they will probably to a quick ECG just to check. Could just be stress and pain though.

Thanks to all for your support. Rheumy says palpitations are not related to RA or mtx. I was also lucky enough to get to see the cardiologist today, when she had a cancellation. She says I have a pre-ventricular beat. Just a little extra electrical blip...completely harmless, but very annoying. We will do 24 hour heart monitor to be 100% sure, and I can take a medication for it if it becomes too bothersome. S, while it is bothersome, I am not going to drop any time soon....oh happy day!
