Cortisol levels need checking regular and you have to pay private the nhs won’t do them . If only our own doctors done this it would be lovely but no big pharma company’s would not have it. Lovely idea tho.

vonnie10, I don't test myself regularly. Twice a year, and that too, only my platelets, CRP, vit D level. It's expensive, yes, but since I can't take drugs for RA, as my platelets get affected. I have ITP too. But I don't bother about other parameters. If inflammation comes down, i am more than happy.

But an all inclusive program has helped bring down my CRP to less than 3, from more than 150. Except for vitamin supplements I don't take any drugs.

Maybe this is the way to health. In India where I live, especially the Southern part, we have a saying "UNAVE MARUNTHU" , Which means, FOOD ITSELF IS MEDICINE.

This was how our ancestors lived. It definitely needs a rethink, the way we live today.

Hi Kalimers65,

I don't use any Ayurvedic medicine for RA.

I do use Papaya leaf tablet for my ITP. It helps in maintaining platelet count at 50 k.

I am a bit wary of using any medication, as I am worried that it may affect my platelets.

Turmeric is a better anti inflammatory than NSAIDS, but, it also acts like a blood thinner. So , I don't use Turmeric, since I tend to bleed if my platelet count goes below 50 k.

It's not very usual to hear from someone like you who doesn't take meds. I try to take as little med as possible. I tried turmeric in my breakfast but it didn't have any effect unfortunately. I'm trying cider vinegar with ' the mother" with honey twice a day.

Good luck Padram

Thank you Kalimers65. Like helixhelix says, we must all have listened to the signals of distress from our body right in our 20's and 30's. We all try our best to not suffer, to be as independent as possible, to laugh away our discomforts so that loved ones can carry on with their lives without worrying about us. The path we choose may be difficult, and we may want to give up sometimes, but we still carry on, that's the human spirit.

So good luck to you, and all the others.

By the way, I don't know how long you tried turmeric, but one tsp of turmeric is not the same as one tspof curcumin. Curcumin acts as an anti inflammatory. So we need to be on turmeric for a longer time to see visible results. Also, each person is different, their food habits are different, their thought process is different, emotions are different. You see, all these play a part in healing. I personally take help from meditation videos, when I am unable to do it on my own. I often do Chakra meditation, you can find videos on YouTube. It may be psychosomatic, but it helps me in managing my condition. Singing bowl meditation has done wonders for me.

Hope this helps.

I have a lot of time for this doctor, as he has some sensible ideas and understands the need to look at people and their lifestyle as a whole.

However he does also recognises that chronic diseases like diabetes 2 are more responsive to these ideas and reversible than other chronic diseases.

Perhaps if I had paid more attention to this in my 20's, 30's and 40's then I wouldn't have broken out with RA in my fifties. Sadly too late to get it back imto it's box for me. I live very well now, following all these sorts of suggestions, and my CRP is always below 5 and usually no more than 2. However I still get swollen and inflamed joints, and if I don't take the drugs I get bone damage.

Hi helixhelix, yes, he makes a lot of sense. And yes, he talks about diabetes. Also, yes, we may be just a little bit too old to get completely cured. And, again, each of us is different too. So even if my CRP is above 200, I don't ever have a single swollen joint. But my thumbs, fingers have been damaged, and oh, my god, the pain I have been through!

At least one positive factor is that we can help the younger generation to get a hold.
