Hi does anyone suffer lower back pain that radiates into upper thigh and then into the inner thigh , my doctor keeps saying it’s my RD because it’s systemic just like to hear other people opinions, my treatment of benepali as failed I. Now on abecept waiting to start, it just seems they put everything down to the disease itself my rhem consultant did a exam and said it’s not my hip, any help appreciated. Thanks in advance .

Hi Vonnie I know what you mean about everything just getting put down to the disease. I get the pain in my groin, hip and down my leg too. I'm waiting for new medication after being taken off Benepali, got appt on 21st to see rheumi so hopefully will get something sorted.
Hope you get your meds sorted soon and things improve. Take care, Neannie
It all sounds so familiar !!!!
Hi Vonnie
I am on abatacept and have had great results, so fingers crossed for you when they finally sort out the admin. Despite it's success I still have problems with my back from time to time and would recommend
a) not vacuuming if at all possible. It's probably about the worse thing I can do to upset my back. Apologies if this is something you have no choice over.
b) have you tried massages? Not cheap I know, but I find they help to loosen my whole back, which reduces pain in the lower back by reducing tension. Perhaps the GP could refer you for physio maybe?
c) Back exercises from the GP. Stretching exercises for the whole body can help, problems in the legs and feet can cause back problems. Not all the exercises involve gymnastics, some of them can be done sat down.
d) orthotics. I had to get orthotic insoles and was surprised to find they reduced my back problems as a side effect of changing my stance when I walked.
I hope some of this helps and good luck with the abatacept
Jenny
Hi Jennifer is this al, part of the illness been diagnosed two and half years now I just seem to getting worst as time goes on still waiting the ortho for insoles everything is just forever to get it, hard work, it just scare me to think is this what I have to put up with for the rest of my life .
Oh I can really sympathise with how you feel. It took about 5 years for my condition to finally be got under control. I got so down at times. Each time something got tackled (and it often took a long time like with your orthotics) at least one other thing would crop up. I didn't even quite realise how bad it was until I met up with a friend I hadn't seen for a while and listed everything I had to do in a day. Her jaw was dropped and I suddenly realised why I had no mental energy to cope with anything else going on in my life (e,g, car problems).
You will get there, really you will. I feel this year like I've finally come out of the other side., Fingers crossed you will feel like that soon
I get the same pains.. lower back down to hip, along side the outer thigh and then into the inner thigh. I haven't been brave enough yet to get to anyone about it..
Hi Connie 10 hope it went ok at gp today and u get some pain relief amy
I’m back at my gp on the 29 th hopefully they can sort me out .
I was go8ng to get asteroid shot but I backed out because they literally make me feel, really really down in a bad way , but I’ve booked to see a gp on the 29 I want a X-ray and different pain relief at least hate that they say it’s your RD could be something. Different but I will have to wait and see.
Hi - I have lower back pain, hips and down my outer thigh. My inner thigh only hurts when you massage it but my outer (especially left) down to almost my knee always hurts. My entire thigh turned numb for about 3 weeks but then came back. My rheumotologist (who still doesn’t think I have RA (need to do a 3rd blood test in April) sent me for X-rays. Came back as siactica and a bit of regular arthritis in the hips. Gave me a prescription for PT but haven’t gotten there yet.
