I have recently developed severe vertigo, so bad I went to the ER. They gave me some medicine for motion sickness, which doesn’t help and makes me severely sleepy. Just wondering if this is another nasty side effect of RA. Does anyone else suffer from vertigo?

RA may not be the direct culprit, but people with auto-immune diseases are more prone to labyrinthitis, a viral infection of the ear that makes you dizzy and vertiginous. As it's a virus there's nothing much you can do except drink water and rest. But maybe best to go to GP just to check?
What meds are you taking? I got a nasty bout of this when I was on leflunomide. Doc gave me a drug to counteract it. However, I knew it was leflunomide causing it so came off. It wasn't doing anything for disease anyway.
Check it's not the meds causing issue
I do get vertigo off and on, though I suspect mine is much more mild than yours. I am able to use an over the counter motion sickness pill that is a non-drowsy formula that helps quite a bit. For mine, weather and allergies are triggers as they seem to mess with the fluid in my ears. I know how miserable it feels and I hope you get something figured out. I hate vertigo even worse than the pain of RA.
Could you have a problem with your ears. I have meneries disease which is a balance problem. Or maybe you have a virus.
