Thank you all who have replied to my question re insomnia. My husband does not have a problem getting to sleep but he has to wake to go to the toilet in the night and then he can't get back to sleep. He may only have 3/4 hours and after several nights like this he is exhausted. The GP today gave him some waterworks tablets but other than these he could come up with no solution other than it is a man of a certain age thing. Please keep your comments coming.

Once I get woken needing the loo at night that is it sleep is over. I certainly hope it isn’t a man of certain age as I am female lol. My max sleep most nights is four hours. Can go to sleep no problem just can’t stay asleep. Makes you feel permanently exhausted.

I suffer from insomnia and once awake 3-4 am I can’t get back to sleep and left with tiredness on waking and increases as the day goes on.

I take amitrypline 50mg Which aids sleep but often lasts a few hours.

Hi, I know it is exhausting when you don't have a reasonable sleep I too have had this problem. I found that if I don't drink tea or coffee after 6pm I don't tend to wake up to use the loo. It is worth a try..

I would get 3-4 hours of broken sleep, sleep for 1 hour then be awake for 2 hours; sleep for 45 minutes then awake for 1 hour.... Drift off again for a half hour ... Then I'm up for the day.

Now, I fall alseep... eventually, but I can sleep fives hours of solid sleep without waking during that time. The difference? I use a sleep medical marijuana plant and/or CBD Oil ingested. It has very little THC in it, the stuff that gets you stoned. I don't get addicted to pain or sleep meds. I get more sleep and with less pain. I like it.
