Well I think it does have something to do with RA as so many of us start getting signs of RA around the same time as the menopause....doctors just haven't worked out the link yet.

I personally haven't found anything that works apart from HRT, which I've been on for 5 years now and am now trying to come off. Others have difference experiences, so look at some old posts like this one

Or put HRT in the search box top right of your screen.

But whatever you do don't take black cohosh, St. John's wort or evening primrose if you are on drugs like MTX.

I was put on HRT years ago when my husband died. I still take a sort of half dose. I think the risks are minimal and it’s good for RD and well being after the menopause. I’ve had RA 3 years and still take it. Its the only thing that works for me. I couldn’t think of giving it up when diagnosed as I couldn’t put up with the hot flushes etc as well everything else .

Hi, I have been on HRT for 3 years and was diagnosed with RA 6 months ago. My doctor has talked to me about the positive benefits of oestrogen on bone health and has therefore advised me to stay on it for now. I am 47 years old. She also said she thinks I have enough to cope with at the moment coping with methotrexate and therefore thinks this is the best course of action for me.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I’ve been on HRT for about 6 years already ....was taking Premia 2.5 and then a couple of months ago went to get script refilled only to find out it was no longer available :( no warning company decided not to make it anymore ( not for Australia and New Zealand ) anyway. So then my doc wanted me to try other things which did absolutely nothing for me. This week I finally convinced him I needed another HRT which he has finally prescribed.
