Hi,

Sorry to hear you are suffering. The only place I can think of is 'Hotters'. Have you tried them. Or maybe for a cheaper version see if there are any Hotters on EBay?

widerfitshoes.co.uk are the company you need. Fabulous independent company - great for customer service, no p&p and free returns. Extensive range of shoes/ slippers. Variable widths to accommodate very swollen feet. Some items have 2 or 3 inserts to adjust as you need. Excellent help from the staff on the phone. Do get a catalogue - it contains a measuring guide to help you get closer to the size you need. Depending on where you live - they do have some retail outlets - usually in department stores. Good luck !

It is worth talking to a podiatrist - mine recommended various shoe firms and gave me catalogues to look at.

the problem I have is with socks - women's socks are too narrow fitting and men's socks so boring.

Oh, and I meant to say that although the shoes from places like Hotter and Comfort Feet are expensive they do last well!

I find Ecco fleece lined boots indispensable. My small feet, once swollen and hot with inflammatory arthritis, have now withered and shrunk and turned hard and shiny since the neuropathy took over.

They and my ankle tendons and legs go blue purple mottled and feel like I’m standing in icey water up to my thighs. Wider shoes don’t help me as I’ve lost sensation so need shoes and boots that hold my legs and feet firmly and are very easy to get on and off (numb fingers).

If your neuropathy is badly affecting your circulation like mine then you need shoes that are a very good fit to include two pairs of socks or circulation tights and socks to protect and insulate. I have Sketchers pull ons and fleece lined slipper socks with rubber grips for inside - nothing that rubs or chaffs as I don’t feel the resulting sores or chilblains.

I have Cmt and can only wear shoes from Wider Fit shoes. They are expensive but I get the VAT off the price and try to buy them in the sales. Mine are 8E but only a size 3. The only alternative is NHS shoes and I didn’t like them and they never seemed to make them right.
