I wish that i could remember but it was a long time ago but i had 1 plaster caste on and went in to gt it off and they took it off and i thought thank goodness but they put another on not quite as heavy as the first one but maybe things have changed a bit now.Sorry i couldnt be any help.
I have had both wrists fused. One had a bone graft, ( from my hip) the other a metal rod. Recovery time was similar. They were done a number of years ago, both successful. I would allow about 12 weeks before you are using the wrist confidently again.
I think i was 48.I know you will be nervous but the operation was fine it is just the annoyance of being in plaster.Good luck
