Hip pain
Hi Sue, sorry to hear that. I had v bad left hip before hands flared etc. and same as you clear x ray. I cld hardly walk on it for a week and yet a week later it was totally fine. Diagnosed later, still fine but have permanently stiff right one. Have you already got RA or worried you might have?
Hi so pleased your hip is better.had my problem over a year tho.
Oh no, my right one still stiff aches when sitting but nothing like that. Awful if you can't sleep i know. Had ultra sound on hands so know that's RA, after GP blood tests came back with raised inflammatories and they booked rheumatology. Good luck with yours, hope you get some answers soon
Thank you me too xc
No x ray revealed no rA.
Sueb 222, Regarding hip pain, trochanter bursitis seems to be quite common. Pain above and in front of the hip. I think it commonly does hurt most at night when the bad side is the top leg. Mine was diagnosed by a physiotherapist as soon as I described this to her. It was treated very effectively by my GP administering a steroid injection into the bursa. Hey presto, it cleared up within days but the injection was repeated months later. I think it happens if one has a bad posture due to back pain, so said my GP.
HTH?
I had two injections. But had no confidence in the doctorwho done them.maybe try again now he has left the surgery. X
I had this too in both hips. I could hardly walk sometimes and sleeping was hard. Had to sleep on my back as both sides hurt and any movement was painful. I had steroid injections over the course of a year and now crossed fingers it’s gone! Mind you my knees have started flaring now......
I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my legs for the past year. Have some osteoarthritis in right hip which doesn't help, but worse problem at the moment is something like tendonitis which causes pain to shoot from top to bottom of my leg, especially when driving. Seeing a rheumatoid specialist physiotherapist now (having had conflicting suggestions from other physios) really hoping to get somewhere this time. Please share if you have any updates or suggestions!
I had this too ....yesterday I had an steroid injection into hip and hey presto all is fine ....for now
Good Luck
I know exactly, my hips are so painful had X-ray nothing, CT scans lights arthritis and MRI scan said arthritis but not bad enough to do any thing, trapped nerves in my lower back, and cyist on my spine which they thought causing pain, will give you a spine injection, still waiting 8weeks later,I don’t think the specialist know what terrible pain We are in, like I am sure you are, demand a MRI scan. Hopefully if your young you will get treated earlier, once you get over 70 I sure know one cares thinking of you x
I have been troubled by hip bursitis for years and ive had numerous steroid injections but more recently i was getting no relief . I was sent for mri of lower spine and was found to have slipped discs. I received 4 facet joint injections and the improvement after 5-6 was great, so i was obviously been treated for the wrong thing as the proper investigations weren’t done in the beginning. I hope you find out the cause and get treated quickly. Best wishes xx
Hi Sueb222
I have the same problem. Been going on for months, very painful to sleep on. Rheumy thinks it is Bursitis, but as latest injection hasn’t worked, I am having an MRI in a couple of weeks, and a referral to Orthopeadics.
I am also seeing a physio who says it is Troncheric bursitis, so has given me exercises to strengthen the area. It is debilitating, but you should get seen and start on a treatment. Good luck.
Could it be bursitis? Very painful and in my experience only eases with a steroid injected under ct conditions.
Hi, I had the same problem, didn't show on an xray, turned out to be bursitis, which is unrelated to ra.
I have gone to the chiropractor because my hips are out of alignment and he adjusts my back and they go back even. It has my a difference with my 18 years of RA. I have not had any hip problems this whole time.
I have hip pain too but haven’t told any medical person. My hips hurt when I walk and also when I lie on them.
