Yes, I did but I'm afraid even though I got up to 1800mg daily they did absolutely nothing for me. Fortunately pregabalin has for the neck problem but I do still have neuro issues, possibly from leflunomide which has now been stopped but as yet no proof. As with all of this type of med you need to titre the dose up to what you find is most helpful but equally titre it down if it isn't.

I tried gabapentin once, but I couldn't tolerate the side effects. I know a few people that do ok on it, they use it for neuropathy.

Apologies to Jaki1 for hihjacking her post .... but what dreadful side effects did you have Mandy? Have been given some to take a day before my knee replacement surgery and for after and am dreading to take it somehow. So would welcome any useful comments. Thanks.

I was off my rocker, couldn't think straight, had the shakes, slurred speech, and headache. That was from 100mg! Not my finest hour, worst side effects I have ever experienced.

On the other hand, my friend takes 800mg and she says they are a miracle drug for her! Hope you do well on it!

Thanks for your feedback. A bit scary not sure I want to use it but was given some at the pre operation assessment to take the night before and on the morning of operation... What were you given instead?

That was the last fibromyalgia drug that the formulary allowed coverage from my insurance, so was then sent to pain clinic and given Norco.

Thanks Mandy. Sorry but what is norco?

Norco is a brand name used in the US (& China), it's paracetamol/hydrocodone. Because of varying brand names between countries it's usually easier if we use the generic name of meds as they're the same the world over.

What are you taking it for ?

I have RA but take it for cramp fasiculation at night- waking up every 2-3 hours .

( I am sure it is RA related but started 20 months ago )

Thought it wasn’t doing anything & came off it . Night time cramps came back !! So back on it .

It works for me but on low dose - also gives me a better night’s sleep 💤

I have an allegy to diclofenic which is in gabapentin but was not aware of the fact gabapentin contained diclofenic until my 3rd tablet. Then I was itching all over. The thing is up to this point I found they took the pain away really good

Hiya Jezzd. Gabapentin doesn't include diclofenac (if this is the med), they're two different meds & not available as a combination. Are you sure this is what you were told? Itching or a rash is a common side effect of gabapentin though.

My wife uses it for nerve pain and it works well enough for her.

Gabapeating is useless I. My afraid😢

I took it for a few weeks when I was getting very odd excruciating shooting pains in my calf which would last for a few seconds at a time but which made driving dangerous and would wake me up in the night. The pains went away - whether it was the gabapentin or not I don't know - and I didn't have any side effects. However my dad was taking it for back pain and although it did ease the pain it made him feel so knocked out that he stopped taking it.

I've been prescribed it again sand start taking it tonight. Last time I got side effects but I'm not sure how much of that was psychosomatic as the leaflet scared me silly. I tried pregabalin but a week in I developed an irregular heart beat

I've been on Gabapentin for 4 years now. No side affects and currently trying to wean off. Down to 1/4th of what I started out on.

Interesting this one has come up even though it’s an older post as preglabin and gabapentine are both going to be class 3 control drugs from April. Apparently there has been a lot of abuse, black market selling and deaths with them.

My new shrink just put me on this about two months ago....he is taking me off Clonazapam at the same time...I have felt no change in my anxiety level...in fact my brain is racing twenty times faster than ever, which then triggers my anxiety, which triggers more racing thoughts that make the anxiety worse....one big circle of hell....it is way worse at night....my old shrink gave me the clonazapam to shut down my brain...it worked for awhile then like ALL THE PHARMAY of drugs I have been on...they all stop working....I have been on so much stuff, that at any given time, I should pee in a cup, and let the companies titrate the combined drugs in my system into a new more helpful drug...it all sucks to not know what normal feels like
