Hi. I'm on 12.5mg Mtx though orally not injection, and it's typical to have that wiped out feeling for 24hrs. Some folks have it for 2 days+ so I'm grateful for small mercies!

Thanks Paul ,sorry to hear you feel like that too, thought I was being a wimp lol

No you're not a wimp! :-) I've never tried this myself, but I gather some people take their Mtx late with the aim of sleeping through some of the side effects. Worth considering maybe?

I'm on 17.5mg injections (8 years on MTX, 7 of years on injections) & always more tired the following day, I just don't arrange anything on Thursdays if I can avoid it. Could you take it as a rest day, take it easy?

I’m on 20mg and like Paul, I feel a bit yuck?Certainly the day after . However, it used to be worse and longer (3 days) so, there definitely is light at the end of the tunnel

Maybe you need to up your folic acid, ask your rheumatologist. Every country & it seems every rheumatologist have their own guidelines of how much folic acid to be taken with mtx. It is common in North America to take 5mg of folic acid daily while on mtx. Yes,even on mtx day.

I’m on 22.5mg and yes, I feel grot for 24 hours or so. I inject mine before bed and try and sleep through the worst.

I see it as a small price to pay - MXT has given me some semblance of a normal life again 😀

I always try and keep positive even through my dark days, and I’m sure this helps!

I'm just swapping over to the metoject mtx as the nausea on the tablets was becoming troublesome. I must be lucky as I don't feel too bad after. Just a little slower than usual but each of us react differently to the meds so, no, you are not being a wimp. Hugs

I am on 10mg mtx going up to 12.5mg next week I always feel a bit groggy for 24hours after especially at min when they are going my dose every 2 weeks .I am told it will get better as I get used to it .good look.

I'm on 25mg and, believe me, the increase in dose has made little difference to the side effects but we're all different. I'd rather have the few side effects I have now than they way I was before I started mtx.

I find one of the hardest things is determining if theDMARDs are working. Because the way I feel right now, on mtx and Enbrel injections is just horrible. I made an easy lovely dinner for 7 of us and every part of me feels seized up and swollen. All of a sudden after dinner. Every ingredient totally organic, even homemade dressing for my Caesar salad. I just don’t get it I’m so dejected. Dinner was wonderful. Family visiting from afar. But the aftermath is just horrendous.

And if I feel this way, then how would I feel without the drugs???

It's hard to say how you'd feel without stopping them and I wouldn't want to do that. I just remember life before meds. I could do nothing but cry with the pain of it - and I'm not a cryer

Try taking the methotrexate before you go to bed. I take 20 mg once per week and I usually awake feeling ok.

See if they will prescribe you Folonic acid instead of the folic. It’s rx and has made a huge difference for me.

Kimmycin can try of course but I'm not sure here in the UK they'll prescribe folinic acid as an option for side effects in RD as they do in the US Jill. As I understand it they use it more regularly for high dose MTX as a rescue remedy & in low dose as rescue remedy for suspected cases of MTX overdose. Also in cases of severe haematological toxicity, pre-renal or acute renal failure. In these cases I think it's given IV whilst being monitored so quite different usage. Best for her to check of course, no harm in trying but she may not see this as it was her only post & she's not been active on the site ever since she replied here. Hopefully it's because all is well with her & MTX is no longer causing her rubbish days.

Then I have no answers. 🙁

Well as she's not been around to ask further I'm hoping she's either like most of us coping with it if MTX is working well for her or she's settled on another DMARD. Hope you're ok.
