Avara(leflunomide)

Hi all,

I was taking methotrexate and it made me sick and I lost at least 2days out of the week trying to recover from a dose, so the docs want me to start Avara....can anyone tell me if they tried this drug and what side effects I can look forward to?

I've had it for nearly 3 years and don't anticipate side effects it tends to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's great for me.

Leflunomide has been a great med for me. Much gentler than methotrexate, not as many side effects if on correct dose for your body.They put me on 20 mg , it was to much so we went to 10 mg. Good vibes to you

Hi, I swapped Mtx for Arava a couple of years ago and it has been fine, no noticeable side effects. So I wish you the same!

I also tried methotrexate both in tablet and injection form. Just the smell made me sick so I refused to take it anymore. I just take the Leflunomide on it's own now and not had any side effects. I am supposed to have retux infusion every 6 months. However I managed to go a whole year before having another infusion. We are all different and you won't know how anything will effect you untill you try it for yourself. I wish you well, take care xxxx

i also am on leflumanide after taking mtx i have been on it 3 years and no side effects

Was on methotrexate for over two years then started to feel so sick and unwell. Was changed to Avara and was fine for about two years but now been feeling awful for months. Fatigue and night sweats main problem. Keep hoping it will improve but not getting any better think I will have to contact Rheumy nurse for advise. Any advice?
