Why has the dr kept you on this drug?

I take that drug, but not very often....Last Gp said take 3 times a day, this new GP says no thats way too much and can hurt your heart....I only take it when my joints are really hurting and it knocks the pain back for a long time...sometimes weeks... I only have to take it once usually...I didnt know you had to taper off it...

You can just stop diclofenac no need to taper. You may find it difficult to cope with the aches and pains though. You could try one of the gels such as voltarol or ibuleve to help.

That is what I did. Used gels till my RA got back under control with the main RA med. My GP phoned me and said all their patients were having their Diclofenac stopped. That was 5 years ago.

There are other anti-inflammatoires that have a slightly lower risk than diclofenac, but they all have some risk.

You don't say why you are taking it, but as lupus says you can just stop - no need to wean off it. However, might be best to discuss alternatives wi your GP before you do.

Turmeric? Take with coconut oil or flax oil because it's not water soluble.

Not really, not when it's not specifically related to inflammatory diseases, with comormidities. You read the study?

I take 75mg a day , 25mg in the morning and 50mg after dinner at night. i never have it without substantial food. My GP said it was okay to take it as long as it was with food.

i have been on it for a long time as well as a dmard. It just seems to be the best for my inflammation.

You don't need to taper off any NSAIDs. I'd recommend you discuss your reasons & possible alternatives with your Rheumy or GP though, if you just stop your diclofenac without a replacement being prescribed your inflammation will return.
