PMR Progress

As we all know, PMR has results in many lifestyle changes. I believe it is a wake up call to put the brakes on and change direction. Since June, I sold my business, have taken Tai Chi, Quigong, Pilates and will try Aquacise even though I hate getting my hair wet. Physical therapy helps as does hot stone massage and doing nothing. Netflix, Amazon and On Demand movies help the time pass. Stand up comedy is a great distraction.I am mostly doing me. Me, me, me will get dull, dull, dull but just not yet.

Tapering is my new challenge, as is Pred head, memory is fuzzy, short temperedness and no filter. Distrupted sleep is new on the journey. Every day has a new development re. pain, discomfort. Sometimes it's more, sometimes it's less. I watch my dog, see her rest and think I'll do what she does.

Thanks to all my forum friends. I can't function without you!

Hi you've made a lot of changes in a short period of time, the gentle exercise programme you've embarked on is all to the good...have you changed your diet at all? I ask as I have put on so much weight through taking Prednisone for flares during this past 2 years ( not continually but 3 tapers of about a month).. it totally demoralises me, I can't shift it, I swim and walk our two dogs (Tibetan Terriers) but as I do things so much slower I guess my metabolism has slowed...any tips appreciated!

Sleepless tonight as it was MTX last night,

Kate

I really want to be a diet coach! Yes, I have made many diet changes. I eat low carbs, low sugar, no alcohol, no nightshades (potatoes, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes). I eat many times during the day at least 6. I started at 106 now I'm 101. I did see 100. I have added Ezekiel bread made from sprouts with peanut butter. Lots of berries, melon, cabbage, broccoli, salads, etc. I have osteoporosis so I eat yogurt and cottage cheese. Oatmeal with unsweetened Almond milk, hemp, chia seeds walnuts and 1/4 banana and berries before bed, during the night if I wake up and at 5:00 am before Pred.

Since PMR makes me feel so out of control, diet gives me a focus so I think I am doing something to get better. The whole idea flew out the window when I did my first taper and pain roared it's ugly head for 2 days after lower dose! I take Tumeric pills also.

PMR is my new job! Hope this helps. I'm sure you will lose weight if you stick to the simple plan of no sugar, no bad carbs. Read every label...sugar is everywhere!

Keep me posted.
