Hi. I am new on here and looking for advice.

I have had arthritis for about 12 years now but diagnosed with a type of auto immune arthritis 5 years ago. I had tried methotrexate and had horrible side effects. I have tried the other one beginning with S and had a head to toe rash when I when outside. I have been having terrible flare ups on my knees. I had them drained today and steriod injection. The Dr wants me to try leflunomide now but i am worried about side effects and trying to work full time. Is anyone else on this medication and how do you find it? Thanks.

Hi, I to had horrible side effects from mtx. I was on leflunomide and had to stop that too. I do get bad side effects on most but everyone reacts differently. Give it a try it could work for you. I am on biologics and waiting to change to Orencia.

Good luck I hope you will be okay and feeling much better with the new medication.

I've seen people do really well with leflunomide and I've seen others like myself who were literally rendered bed ridden within months. I did okay for a couple of months and by the third month I could hardly get out of bed to make it to the bathroom. It was bad. It's always a risk vs reward calculus and being diligent in your research and acutely self aware is all you can do. I wish you the best! 😊

I have tried and failed on Leflunomide it did help me but the side effects were bad and I had to stop, I should say that I have side effects on most medications so I am probably not a good example. I would say it is worth trying it may suit you and it could help you, we are all different you shouldn't base your decision on those of us that have tried it and had to stop. Good luck

I have recently just started on Leflunomide, im yet to get any benefits as yet but im hoping once i hit 3 months it might start making a difference. Ive also started taking the tablets at night as i feel quite sickly in the day.

Im having a really bad time with knee flares at the moment, hoping for some steroids to put me on until the drug starts working. Ive just literally taken some sick leave but thats due to flares not side effects.

Good Luck

That sounds the same as me. I have had 4 weeks off of work due to knee flare up. Had it drained and steriod yesterday and it is 80% better today😊 I hope yours starts to get better soon. X

Yeah they should inject both knees at the same time. I have flare ups in both knees but at different times. When one is OK the other one starts! Yeah it is painful and a lot of people don't understand if they don't have it. X

Im exactly the same, one knee at a time swells. Its annoying.

Ive found that really hard lately, people not understanding.

Ive just pushed myself to breaking point for other people before going on sick leave.x
