Sadly, I lost my mother last week . Really struggling with it so found this delightful chap in the hope that he will not only be a fab addition to our family but to help take the kids ( and mine) mind off our huge loss.

Will be thinking of you today - losing your Mum one of life's worst moments. But she'll always be with you - mine still tells me what to do and she died 16 years ago.

That little chap looks like excellent therapy.

So sorry. Doesn't matter how old you are, loosing your mum floors you completely. It takes a lot to come to terms with it, so treat yourself gently.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I'm truly devastated but I know with time this will ease. Oliver has certainly helped take the girls' mind off things a bit, which is good to see.

Marie

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my father in Sept 2015 and I thought I could never get over that pain. I still miss him and I always will, but the pain isn't so gut wretching. Once I got it in my head that my dad was OK now, I realized I needed me to be OK. Take it one day at a time, when you start to tear up give yourself time to cry & think about the good times.

I think you made a healthy step to add a kitty to your family. Just looking at your kitty's face puts a smile on my face.

Thank you sue, I really appreciate your words. Oliver is lovely. He's not long back from getting his vaccinations and I think has a bit of an upset tummy but he's lovely.

Hi Marie. There's never a good time to lose your Mum but you will carry her in your heart and memory for ever. I still tell my Mum all the news and she's been gone for nearly 20 years and I only have to look in the mirror to see her. I'm sure your gorgeous Oliver will help you and your girls through this. My two, now departed, certainly helped me through some really dark times. Huge hugs

Thanks Jan, I appreciate what you're saying. You're right, ill always have my memories. The funeral was just Saturday so still reeling but there's no better leveller than children and animals so they help break up the dark cloud hanging over me.

Hope you're as well as can be .

So sorry to hear this news Marie, one of life's most challenging events. Great you're deflecting some of your grief via the kitten! I hope this stress doesn't upset your joints. Take great care of yourself.

Eiram50 profile image
Eiram50 in reply toWitness2

Thank you. It certainly is a challenge. It may sound mad to many but the challenge for me is a kind of existential one is so far as I just can't get my head around that she simply doesn't exist anymore- that she's nowhere in this world. This is course may also just be simple denial? God knows, but ill get there.

I'm very grateful for everyone's kind words in the site, it is comforting.

I have the doctor this morning as , it must be the stress, I've developed a horrendous cough, but if a temp and I'm sure and have hands like balloons!

Och well, onwards and upwards eh?

Hoping your doing ok.

Thanks again

Marie

Give yourself time Marie. I'm still pondering that one 6 years after my Mother died. I wish I believed in an afterlife, how comforting that could be.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I understand what you mean, it took me a while to get used to not having mam around, automatically picking up the phone to have a chat, tell her something etc. It does get easier in time and you will think of her with a smile on your face. Good luck at the doctors, take care. X

That's a lot of responsibility that you're placing onto a cat. Animals are not our caretakers. It's the other way around. That's what make them worth the time and effort.

Eiram50 profile image
Eiram50 in reply toEberhardt1973

There’s no responsibility on the cat. The cat is well loved and a massive, welcome part of the family.

But, your comment is noted, if considered a bit harsh.
