Methotrexate

Hi all been on a low dose of methotrexate 10mg This is my 4th lot. I very rare get spots but as my little granddaughter just said, Grandma have you got chicken pox. Got 7 really sore spots on my face. Nothing new just the methotrexate may be stress as i wait for my face to face. Was just wondering if anyone else has had this. Thankyou. x

Yes I have something similar sometimes when my immune system is suppressed - whether with MTX or others. I did ask several GPs when these first started with Methotrexate and they told me it was probably Rosacea. Never been quite sure about this myself - maybe follicular i.e tiny infections in hair follicles. I occasionally get these on my shins and ankles too but less on my face now.

Hi, I suffered with bad skin on Azathioprine and then Methotrexate for over a year. Two different dermatologists diagnosed Rosacea and said it had nothing to do with the drugs. My gut told me this was wrong as I'd never before had skin problems. I was twice put on courses of antibiotics which helped in the short term but not without causing other problems. Finally a young pharmacist in Boots searching on her system identified "acne" as a "rare" side effect of Methotrexate- hallelujah! She advised I ask my GP for a topical antibiotic and since then (2 months ago) I've had completely clear skin Two consultant Dermatologists but it took a young woman in Boots with a little humility to sort it out...I hope this might help you x

Why am i not surprised with that, feel down with it every day i have more. I have never had bad skin so it must be the Methotrexate. Like my dad used to say we are better off with a good vet. lol Thankyou. x

Sorry not got back thank you, got this pip ass and can't rest .I will go and see doctor to see if anything he can give me. xxx
