Hi All,I started 15g Methotrexate injections 3 weeks ago. A variety of mini reactions, but expected. Nausea a bit, spots, but had a temp on Sat ( take it Wednesday evening), and feel a bit wheezy today. Has anybody had that when starting?

I had nausea and stomach ache and a bit if a flare the following day when I started, but none of the symptoms you describe. Maybe a virus you’ve picked up ! Hope you feel better soon.

I wouldn't expect mxt to give you a high temperature. It sounds like you have got something else going on as well.

You need to contact your rheumatologist asap. Methotrexate can cause lung issues like pneumonitis, which can present with a temperature and shortness of breath. I believe it’s only around 2% that get it, but it needs ruling out. I would certainly hold off on taking further till you speak with them. 🤗

I had nausea find it’s better if I inject it on an empty stomach. But none of the others best to give someone a ring to be safe good luck.

No temperature, spots or wheezing here. I'd do as Maureengibson suggests. I'm sure your rheumy team will be able to guide you as to the best way forward.

Hi,

I take it orally and I find the side effects a bit inconsistent - mostly nausea, sometimes a very upset tum the day after but mostly absolute fatigue for the following 24 hours. And dreadful mouth ulcers at first (they threw extra folic acid on to combat that - not with 100% success!) I’m on 25mg at the moment but recently started anti TNF injections so hoping to reduce the methotrexate in the coming months.

Hope you do ok on it!

Thanks, I eventually got through to Rheumy nurse, they stopped MTX for this week to see if the adverse reactions eased. Yes they did. I sent through photos of reactions etc. Waiting to see what Consultant comes back with.

Hope you do well on the new injections.
